Cyprus

Cyprus is a popular retirement and lifestyle destination for UK families with pets. As an EU member state, Cyprus follows EU pet travel rules. Both Larnaca (LCA) and Paphos (PFO) accept pets arriving as cargo.

Documentation

• ISO 15-digit microchip implanted before vaccinations
• Rabies vaccination given 21–30 days before travel, in line with the vaccine manufacturer’s guidelines
• APHA-endorsed EU Animal Health Certificate (post-Brexit replacement for the EU pet passport)
• Tick treatment before travel — recommended for pets from the UK rather than a strict requirement

Airlines

Several carriers fly pets directly to Cyprus. The cargo routes we use most often are British Airways from London Heathrow to Larnaca, and TUI from London Gatwick to Paphos, Gatwick to Larnaca, or Manchester to Paphos. Indirect options are also available via Frankfurt with Lufthansa or via Athens with Aegean Airlines.

Arrival

Pets clear at the Larnaca cargo facility. Allow 3–4 hours for clearance. Onward road transport to Paphos or other destinations on the island is typically arranged by Airpets’ local partner.
