What a month it’s been. If you follow us over on Instagram (@airpets), you’ll know June marked a rather special milestone, our 60th birthday, and our feed has been full of celebration, behind-the-scenes moments and the kind of happy endings that remind us exactly why we do what we do. Here’s a look back at everything that’s been happening.
Celebrating 60 years of pet travel
The highlight of the month was undoubtedly reaching our 60th anniversary. It all started in 1966, when farmer Mr John Woodward established Airpets with a small number of boarding kennels near Heathrow. Six decades later, we’re proudly run by third-generation family members: Directors Jack and Hugo, alongside Sophie, who leads on moves to Australia and animal welfare.
Our anniversary archive post took followers through our history, from those first kennels to becoming an IATA accredited cargo agent. We also introduced some of the faces behind the business in a Meet the Team post, asking the people who care for and safely move animals every day what they love about working here. And of course, we couldn’t let the occasion pass without treating the dogs: balloons, cupcakes and very well-deserved pup cups all round.
Real journeys, real reunions
Nothing captures what we do quite like a safe arrival. This month we shared Maple’s journey from the UK to Dubai, from her time in our paddocks and final health checks through to being reunited with her family, with thanks to our recommended partners in Dubai for handling her arrival.
We also followed Nelson, who was finally reunited with his paw-rents after the long journey from the UK to New Zealand. As we said at the time, pet relocation is about so much more than flights and paperwork. It’s about helping pets safely reunite with the people who mean the world to them. Moments like that never get old.
Helpful, practical guidance
We know how much planning goes into moving a pet abroad, so we shared plenty of useful information too. Teaming up with Virtue Vets, we explained why you need an Official Veterinarian (OV) to sign off export paperwork, and broke down the veterinary side of moving a pet to Australia, one of the strictest destinations in the world for pet imports. We followed that with a full step-by-step guide to the Australia process, and a practical rundown of relocating from the UK to the USA.
