How can I prepare my pet in the weeks before their flight?

Crate training is the single most useful thing you can do in the weeks before travel. A pet who feels safe in an enclosed space will travel far more calmly. Start by leaving any crate open in a familiar room with a blanket carrying your scent inside, encouraging your pet to enter on their own without force. Feed them near the crate, then in it, and gradually build up to closing the door for short periods. Airpets can deliver your pet’s travel crate to you ahead of departure (for a fee) so they associate it with home, not the airport.
